You go hunting for Twitter font size on Android inside the app, land on Display and sound, and the slider that every guide describes is missing from the list.
It was not buried. X took it out, and the company writes this down. Its X for Android FAQ opens the answer with a yes and closes it with a flat no: you can change the size, but “It is no longer possible to update font size directly through your X for Android app.” The route offered instead is your phone’s own settings, with a restart of the app if nothing changes right away.
That leaves three surfaces answering the same question three different ways.

Where Twitter font size on Android lives now
Google’s accessibility help refuses to print a fixed menu path, and that refusal is the useful part: phone makers keep moving the screen around, so the instruction is to open the Settings app, search for Font size, and drag the slider. Display size sits next to it and scales everything, not just text.
One sentence on that page is the limit nobody quotes back at you: “The font size setting doesn’t apply to some apps.”
So the honest version of the answer is that X gave a per-app preference back to the operating system, and the operating system has no idea you only wanted bigger posts. Your keyboard, your banking app and your alarm clock all grow with the timeline. I think that is a worse setting than the one it replaced, and I would rather have had the slider stay in the app.
What the iPhone app and the browser kept
On iOS the control is still inside X. From your profile menu, tap Settings and privacy, then Accessibility, display, and languages, then the Display and sound tab, and drag the font slider. Dark mode lives on the same screen, which is why so many guides describe the two together.
On x.com the panel is elsewhere again. Click More, pick Display, and you get font size, text colour, and the choice between the white background and the two dark modes, Dim and Lights Out.
What does not carry across your devices
X documents video autoplay as a setting adjusted independently on x.com and in the app. For display it never promises anything of the kind: it publishes one screen per surface and stops. Until X writes otherwise, treat the three as three separate preferences and expect to set each one by hand.
There is no way back to an in-app slider on Android. Reinstalling the app will not return it, and neither will an older build, because the answer X publishes is about the app as it ships today.
